Claude Ambassador is an official title, conferred by Anthropic, not taken by running an event. Where the directory has not caught up with a recent appointment, the card names who confirmed it rather than pointing at an entry that is not there yet.
Nobody was assigned a city. Evan Grenda opened Los Angeles, Travis Johnson opened Orange County, and San Diego was already running when Max Krueger picked it up in its second week.
Opened Los Angeles in February and has run it on a steady cadence since — five of the six in Venice. Co-hosts the Impact Lab on August 8 with Travis Johnson.
Co-founder of AuraPath AI and one of the first 50 Claude Ambassadors. A decade in product before that, most recently HR tech at TCWGlobal. Runs all three Orange County events, publishes this site, and carried the region north for Santa Barbara on July 18 — Santa Barbara has no ambassador of its own.
Personal injury attorney and founder of CrossBeam, which reads building plans against city code and is piloting with California cities including Buena Park. Won Anthropic’s first Claude Code hackathon out of 13,000 applicants, and does not write code.

Runs Backland Labs, advising companies on AI strategy, and founded San Diego’s AI Tinkerers chapter. Picked the city up in the second week the region existed and has not put it down — the busiest calendar in Southern California, and the only two-day event on it: the Impact Lab, August 1 and 2.
Started SDx’s UC San Diego chapter in 2024, and co-hosted the December 2025 Claude Code meetup that opened the region — 757 registrations, still the largest here. Brought Y Combinator’s partners to UCSD for the first time.

You run Claude events in your own metro: choose the format, find the room, invite the people, stand at the door. No quota, no script. The four formats on the home page are a starting point, not a requirement.
Most people start smaller than they expect — a dozen people around a table on a Saturday morning counts. San Diego’s second event drew twelve, and it is now the busiest calendar in the region.
We do not select ambassadors. Anthropic runs the programme and decides who joins it, so what follows is a pointer, not an application we control.
