On August 8, 2026, builders gathered in Culver City to apply AI to problems that matter. Explore their projects and the challenges that shaped the day.
On 24 July, a room of LA creatives sat down with one question — what does AI mean for my job? These are their cards, transcribed exactly as written. Today we build against them.
LA Claude Conversations Community Wall
The schedule, challenges, prizes and attendee offers below describe the completed event. They are preserved for reference.
Two come from partner organisations with real users behind them. The third is yours to define.
Creative work in LA is being repriced and restructured, and the people it is happening to have less information about it than the people doing it to them.
The full brief — what the room wrote, what people said, and the openings worth building into — is on the track page.
Whether people can afford to work here is decided in rooms most of them will never see — and by the time a decision is visible, it is already a bill.

Got your own problem worth solving? Bring it.
Define your own challenge. Same criteria apply — you just have to convince the room the problem is real.
Doors at 10:00 AM, submissions close at 2:25 PM, demos at 2:30 PM, wrapped by 4:00 PM.
Coffee, snacks, and time to set up your workspace.
Hosts, the room, and the three challenge tracks.
Find your team — up to 4 people — and pick a track.
Heads down. Community mentors circulate.
Delivered. Eat, take a breath, compare notes.
Final push. Get your demo working and your story tight.
Hard deadline. Get your project in — the form or the MCP server, either works.
Each team shows the room what they built.
The panel deliberates while the room decompresses.
Winners announced, post-demo interviews, and where this goes next.
Pack up. See you at the next one.
Small enough that you'll know what every team is building. Writers, designers, founders and engineers in the same room — domain knowledge counts as much as code. Experienced builders from the community are on the floor all day to unstick you. Bring a laptop and expect to use it.
Creative people. Writers, designers, filmmakers, founders, musicians, strategists — and engineers who want to build alongside them. You do not need to code: the best teams are mixed, and knowing a problem deeply is worth as much as knowing a language. Come alone and we'll help you find a team.
The event is free — and built so you leave with real progress, not a tote bag.
Enough runway to keep going after the day ends — which is the whole point.
Four criteria, weighted equally. The panel scores every pitch against all four.
Is the approach genuinely new, or a familiar idea with AI bolted on?
Could this actually be built and run beyond today?
Who does it help, how much, and can it sustain itself?
Is the problem clear, the demo convincing, the ask specific?
Judges to be announced. Every team demos to the whole room either way — that's the part that matters.
They keep the room small, the energy high, and the partners willing to come back.
Attendance required an RSVP on the original Luma listing.
10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Submissions close at 2:25 PM, and teams that leave early can't demo.
The room wants a working demo. Slides are the garnish, not the meal.
If someone's stuck and you can unstick them, do it.
Post it, demo it, tell people. That's how the community compounds.
