Help put on the next one
A room, a co-host, coffee for forty people, or a workshop you want to run. Santa Barbara to San Diego, it starts in the same place.
What we will not do with your support
These are not preferences. They are the terms, and they are the same for a venue, a co-host and a sponsor. Read them before you fill anything in — if they do not work for you, this is the wrong programme and neither of us should spend the time.
- StageNo pitching from the stage. Not by a host, not by a sponsor, not by a partner. The talks are about the work, not the product.
- ListNo attendee list. Nobody who sponsors, hosts or lends a venue receives one, in any form, at any point.
- CaptureNo lead capture. No badge scans, no bowl of business cards in exchange for a raffle, no QR code that is really a form.
- PriceEvents stay free. If money changes hands it is to pay for the room, the food or the chairs — never for a ticket.
What a venue does get is a plain credit on the event, on this site, for as long as the event is listed. Every venue that has opened a room for us is credited exactly that way, and that is the whole of the arrangement.
What we do need
San Diego has run ten of the twenty-two events. Santa Barbara has run one, and has no ambassador of its own — that evening happened because someone drove up from Orange County and a local co-hosted. That is the shape of the gap, if you are working out where an offer would count most.
A room
Forty to a hundred seats, power, wifi that survives a hundred laptops, and a door that opens at six. Every one of the twenty-two started with somebody offering one.
A co-host
Someone in the metro who will help shape the evening and stand at the front of it. Peer level, not instructional. Seven people have hosted or co-hosted one so far.
Support in kind
Food, coffee, chairs, printing, an AV person. Named in the run of show and on the event page. Nothing else is on offer.
A workshop
A hands-on session you can teach. Bring the material and the exercise; we will bring the room and the people.
